Terms of Service
Kit It Yourself. Effective [EFFECTIVE DATE].
These terms are an agreement between you and Kit It Yourself, at kitityourself.com ("we", "us"). By creating an account or paying for the Kit, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Kit.
1. What the Kit is
Kit It Yourself is do it yourself software. It is not a credit repair service. You upload a copy of your own credit report. The software reads it, shows you what may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date, and prepares dispute letters for you to review.
You are in charge of your disputes. You choose what to dispute. You read, sign and mail every letter yourself. We never contact a credit bureau, creditor or collection company for you, and we never sign or send anything in your name.
We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. Nothing in the Kit is a promise of any result. What happens to any item on your credit report is decided by the credit bureaus and the companies that report to them, not by us.
2. Your rights, at no cost
You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information directly with the credit bureaus yourself, for free, without using the Kit or any paid service. You can get free copies of your credit reports from all three bureaus at annualcreditreport.com.
3. Who can use the Kit
You must be at least 18 and live in the United States. You may only upload your own credit report and use the Kit for your own credit file. You agree that the name, address and other details you give us are true, and that you will only dispute information you believe is inaccurate, incomplete or cannot be verified.
4. Your account
You sign in with a link sent to your email. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in to your Kit. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.
5. Price and billing
- The Kit costs $20 a month or $180 a year, in US dollars.
- You are charged when you sign up and then on the same day each month (monthly plan) or each year (yearly plan), until you cancel.
- There is no contract, no setup fee and no free trial.
- Your card statement will show [DESCRIPTOR].
- We email you a receipt after every charge and a reminder before each renewal.
- If we ever change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies. You can cancel before then.
- Some members get free access through a sponsor organization or a promotional code. We take no card from them and never charge them unless they later choose a paid plan.
6. Cancel and refunds
You can cancel any time. Billing stops right away, and you keep access through the period you already paid for. You can get a full refund of your most recent charge by asking within 30 days of it. The details are in our Refund and Cancel Policy, which is part of these terms.
7. Your credit report service is separate
The Kit reads a credit report that you get from IdentityIQ. Your IdentityIQ membership is a separate service with its own price ($1 for the first 7 days, then $21.86 a month when we last checked), billing and terms, and you sign up for and cancel it directly with IdentityIQ. Canceling the Kit does not cancel IdentityIQ. We may earn a commission when you sign up for IdentityIQ through our link. It does not change your price.
8. Mailing
You print and mail your own letters and pay your own postage. The Kit tells you how many stamps each envelope needs, based on its page count. The Post Office has the final word on postage.
9. Using the Kit fairly
You agree not to:
- upload anyone else's credit report, or use the Kit for anyone but yourself
- give false information to us, or put false statements in a letter
- resell the Kit, or use it to run a service for other people
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or overload the Kit, or try to reach anyone else's files
10. Your information
Your credit report and letters belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to run the Kit for you. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we protect it. We never sell your information.
11. Ending your account
You can cancel any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, uploads someone else's report, or is used for fraud. If we end your account for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of your current period.
12. No warranty
We work hard to make the Kit accurate, but it reads reports that other companies produce, and those reports change. The Kit is provided as is. Check every letter before you sign it.
13. Limit of our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the claim. Some states do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
14. Law that applies
[GOVERNING LAW: for the attorney to set.] Nothing in these terms takes away a right you have under the law of the state where you live.
15. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and email you about any important change before it applies.
